Unlike traditional ear syringing or irrigation, which uses water, microsuction uses gentle suction to remove ear wax. This is a safe, gentle and effective method of ear wax removal and, in the majority of cases, provides instant relief and immediately restores full hearing. Our audiologists are trained in all methods of ear wax removal, microsuction, ear irrigation (commonly known as ear syringing) and instrumentation.

What to expect during your visit
At The Hearing Hub, our audiologist will use a microscope to see a detailed view of your ear canal and examine the potential build-up of ear wax. Ear wax and debris are removed using a gentle device. Our appointments include an examination of your ears and removal of ear wax using microsuction, which typically lasts between 10-30 minutes. Depending on the consistency of the wax, we may need to revert to ear irrigation (commonly known as ear syringing) or instrumentation. In rare cases, a follow-up visit may be required to remove particularly stubborn ear wax.
